Ferris Bueller's Day Off Star Makes Rare Comments About Bad Experience Filming The Movie

Mia Sara is opening up about why she rarely talks about Ferris Bueller's Day Off, calling her experience making the beloved 1986 classic "not that good." The actress, who played Ferris' girlfriend Sloane Peterson, said she had a difficult working relationship with director John Hughes. She described him as a "strange guy" and admitted that, at 17, she lacked the emotional maturity to handle the personalities on set. Despite her personal experience, she says she understands how much the film means to fans. Sara largely stepped away from Hollywood because acting "was not a happy career" for her. She focused instead on raising her family and writing poetry, eventually moving to England with her husband, Brian Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. After more than a decade away from acting, Sara returned to the screen in 2024's The Life of Chuck, while continuing to pursue her passion for poetry.
