Netflix has released the trailer for “Animals,” a new crime thriller starring Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington. Affleck plays a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose world falls apart when his son is kidnapped and he and his wife are forced to come up with a ransom. The trailer suggests saving their son could require the couple to make some very compromising—and potentially incriminating—decisions. The kidnapping also threatens to derail Affleck’s political ambitions, while Gillian Anderson appears to have a mysterious role in the escalating mess. Affleck directed the movie, marking his first time back in the director’s chair since 2023’s “Air.” “Animals” hits select theaters and Netflix October 9th.
