Taraji P. Henson publicly called out celebrities for attending the 2026 Met Gala, which was sponsored by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. She cosigned a viral social post warning stars not to wear ICE Out pins while attending an event funded by someone the post linked to controversial labor and political issues. Henson added her own frustration, writing that she’s “confused” by those choosing to go. She also reposted a graphic contrasting Bezos’ $500 million yacht with reports of difficult working conditions for Amazon warehouse employees, captioning it with a pointed “Enjoy the MET.” Bezos reportedly donated $10 million to sponsor the gala. Henson — normally a regular attendee — skipped this year, as did Zendaya, Bella Hadid, and Ariana Grande, though their reasons weren’t confirmed. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also declined to attend, citing affordability concerns. Meanwhile, an activist group called Everyone Hates Elon staged a protest by placing nearly 300 bottles of fake urine inside the Met, referencing allegations that Amazon drivers are forced to relieve themselves in containers.
