“Euphoria” Is Over: HBO Series Officially Ending With Season 3

Sam Levinson has confirmed that Season 3 of Euphoria serves as the show's official ending, with HBO also confirming the series finale. Levinson said the story he set out to tell—centered on addiction and its consequences—has now reached its natural conclusion. In the final episodes, the show took a dramatic turn, with Nate Jacobs dying in the penultimate episode and central character Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, dying from a fentanyl overdose in the series finale. Levinson revealed that Rue's ending was partly inspired by and dedicated to late cast member Angus Cloud, who died in 2023. He described the finale as a tribute to Cloud and "a prayer for the future." The final season faced numerous challenges, including a four-year gap since Season 2, Hollywood strikes, the deaths of Cloud and producer Kevin Turen, and the difficulty of reuniting a cast that had become major stars, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
