Jessica Chastain is joining Netflix’s new drama series The Retrievals, alongside previously announced stars Emilia Jones and Amy Ryan. The series comes from Molly Smith Metzler, the creator of Maid and Sirens, and is inspired by the Peabody Award-winning New York Times podcast. Chastain will play Kaitlyn Langford, a former art historian who has spent years undergoing unsuccessful fertility treatments. She discovers she was among the patients at Yale Fertility Center who underwent egg-retrieval surgery without anesthesia after a nurse stole fentanyl and diluted it with saline. Her character becomes a key plaintiff in the resulting lawsuit against Yale. Amy Ryan plays the nurse who pleads guilty, while Emilia Jones plays another affected patient. The series will be produced by LuckyChap, with Margot Robbie among the executive producers.
