Mayor Calls For Cancellation Of Kanye's July 4th Concert In San Antonio

Kanye West's planned July 4 concert in San Antonio is facing growing backlash. Just a day after tickets went on sale, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones publicly called for the show to be canceled, saying the city shouldn't host someone with a history of antisemitic remarks and hate speech at the publicly owned Alamodome—especially on Independence Day. The San Antonio controversy is the latest in a string of opposition to West's performances. Recent shows in Prague, Poland, France, and the U.K. have been canceled or blocked, and Australia previously denied him a visa. While West apologized earlier this year for his 2025 antisemitic behavior, several upcoming U.S. concerts, including shows in Tampa, are also facing calls for cancellation from public officials. Despite the criticism, tickets for the San Antonio show remain on sale.
