Ben Affleck Wins Rare Million-Dollar Prize With Jeopardy Champ Jamie Ding On Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Ben Affleck proved he knows more than just movie scripts, teaming up with Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding to win the $1 million grand prize on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire last night. The money will go to Affleck's Eastern Congo Initiative, which supports community organizations in the war-torn region of eastern Congo. The two entered the episode with just two questions left. For the $500,000 question, they correctly identified the Wright brothers' first airplane flight as the achievement that happened just two months after The New York Times predicted human flight wouldn't happen for "1 million to 10 million years." Affleck remembered reading about the newspaper's famously bad prediction, and Ding agreed. The million-dollar question asked which pair of names had not been used for a Thanksgiving turkey pardoned by a U.S. president. Faced with choices including Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tater & Tot, Mac & Cheese, and Spaghetti & Meatball, Affleck and Ding turned to host Jimmy Kimmel using the Ask-the-Host lifeline. Kimmel admitted he wasn't certain but believed "Spaghetti & Meatball" sounded fake. After Ding's phone-a-friend failed to answer, the pair trusted Kimmel's instincts, locked in Spaghetti & Meatball, and were right. The correct answer sent confetti flying as Affleck and Ding celebrated becoming the latest celebrity team to win the show's top prize. Along the way, Kimmel also kept up his running gag at Matt Damon's expense, joking that Ding was "so much smarter than Matt" after Affleck's longtime friend also won $1 million on the show last season.
