Netflix has officially released the first teaser for The Hawk, Will Ferrell’s upcoming golf?themed comedy series — and confirmed the show will premiere July 16. The announcement came during Netflix’s Upfront presentation in New York, along with several first?look photos. In the teaser, Ferrell’s character — golf legend Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins — attempts a triumphant comeback swing… only to drill a bystander with a line drive. His reaction: “Oh, Mama, I’m back! … Oh, I’m not back!” The series follows Lonnie, the No. 1 golfer of 2004, now struggling on the “back nine” of his career. His body says retire, his family says he’s done, but Lonnie insists he’s one major away from completing golf’s Grand Slam and pulling off the greatest comeback in golf history. The cast includes Molly Shannon as Lonnie’s foul?mouthed ex?wife Stacy, plus Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. Ferrell briefly paused filming last November after a minor off?set injury, but production quickly adjusted and continued.
