Meryl Streep says she nearly walked away from The Devil Wears Prada back in 2006 — all over salary. During a Today reunion with Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, Streep revealed she initially turned down the role of Miranda Priestly until the studio agreed to double her pay. Streep said she knew the movie would be a hit and, at the time, was “ready to retire,” so she pushed for what she felt she was worth. The studio said yes immediately, and she ultimately earned a reported $4 million, plus a Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination.
