Suspect Charged in Non?Fatal Shooting on Pomonkey Way: Detectives assigned to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a suspect in connection with the non?fatal shooting that occurred on October 17 on Pomonkey Way in La Plata. At approximately 1:20 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block for a report of a shooting and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital and treated for critical injuries. 

A preliminary investigation showed the suspect and victim were known to one another, and the incident did not appear to be random. Through continued investigation, detectives identified Diontrae La Shaun Gantt as the suspect. An arrest warrant for attempted murder was issued on October 20. On October 21, Gantt turned himself in to detectives. He was transported to the Charles County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. He is currently being held without bond.
