LEONARDTOWN, MD (August 4, 2026) – State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling announced today that Robert Marcus Goldring, 48, of Lusby, Maryland, was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 18 years of active incarceration for possession with intent to distribute cocaine as a subsequent offender.

On December 11, 2024, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the area of Pegg Road and Liberty Street in Lexington Park. Goldring was a passenger in the vehicle. After a K-9 alerted to the odor of controlled dangerous substances, deputies searched Goldring and recovered two bags containing more than 100 grams of cocaine.

“When an individual repeatedly returns to drug trafficking despite prior convictions, protecting the community requires significant consequences. This is the Defendant’s seventh conviction for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, which demonstrates a dangerous and persistent pattern of criminal conduct,” said State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling. “Holding repeat drug dealers accountable is essential to disrupting the cycle of addiction, violence, and loss that illegal narcotics create.”

Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Lisa Ridge, Chief of Narcotics, prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of St. Mary’s County.

Corporal Travis Wimberly of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was the lead investigator.

The Honorable Amy Lorenzini presided over the case.
