LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda.

The Commissioners then presented proclamations in recognition of Child Support Awareness Month, National Black Business Month, and National Aviation Day.

For their main agenda item, the CSMC received a briefing on the draft St. Mary’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan.

During County Administrator Time, the CSMC took the following action:

• Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
• Approved the budget amendment granting funds to the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Foundation.
• Approved the Ready 9 Aviation Academy lease agreement for space within the Captain Walter Francis Duke Terminal Building at the St. Mary's County Regional Airport.
• Approved the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Management agreement for the Myrtle Point Cooperative Wildlife Management Area.
• Approved the FY2025 sub-recipient agreement for the State Homeland Security Grant.
• Approved the FY2025(FY26) sub-recipient agreement for the Emergency Management Performance Grant award.
• Approved the spending plan for the Maryland 9-1-1 Board Trust Fund.
• Approved the FY2027 Supporting Older Adults with Resources (SOAR) grant application.
• Approved the Department of Aging and Human Services’ FY2027-2030 Area Plan application and notice of grant award for various state grants.
• Authorized the County Administrator to accept the bid for the bond award.
• Approved the employment contract for the Veterinarian for St. Mary's County Government.

The Commissioners then wrapped up their business meeting with Commissioner Time.

The Commissioners reconvened in the afternoon to hold a memorial ceremony for Ralph Butler. 

The next CSMC meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room, on the first floor of the Chesapeake Building, located at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.
